By Mason Stankovic, Managing Director, Patch Planning
Since establishing Patch Planning in 2021, our mission has been simple: to build a high-performing boutique planning firm known for quality of work, trusted by our clients, and focused on connecting people, policy and place to deliver better outcomes.
From the beginning, we had a clear idea of the kind of firm we wanted to be. Boutique by choice. Senior-led by design.
We never set out to be the biggest urban planning firm in the market. We set out to be trusted strategic advisors in our clients’ businesses, and to build a reputation as the best boutique planning and development advisory firm in New South Wales.
What we saw before starting Patch
Prior to starting Patch, we observed a pattern in the market. On complex planning and development projects, the senior level involvement needed from start to finish wasn’t always there. Senior planners would win the work, then step back.
At Patch, senior planners stay hands-on and involved. They’re there to execute the project strategy devised hand in hand with our clients, from beginning to end.
Planning outcomes don’t happen in isolation. They sit at the intersection of people, policy and place. Our role is to bring those elements together; aligning stakeholders, navigating policy frameworks, and shaping outcomes that work in the real world.
What defines us
Our work is guided by three principles at Patch Planning.
Straightforward advice. We tell clients what we think, clearly and directly.
Real partnership. We work alongside clients to develop strategy, not just respond to briefs.
A shared mission. We’re genuinely invested in what our clients are trying to achieve.
Who we work with
Our growth has been organic, driven by repeat work and strong relationships, because we stayed true to that original mission.
Today we work alongside some of Australia’s largest government agencies, developers and ASX-listed companies across Greater Sydney, the Hunter Region, and regional New South Wales. Our team has a lot of senior experience across a broad range of sectors, including statutory planning, strategic planning, policy advisory, and development advisory, which puts us in the position to service a vast range of projects.
If you’re looking for a planning consultancy in Sydney or Newcastle that stays close to the work, we’d love to talk.
